The Studio

TimeWaves is a two room operation built in a 1901 home featuring a live room and control room with a communication system between rooms.

The live room is where drummers, guitarists, bassists, vocalists, keyboardists and other musicians will lay down their tracks. The room has a high ceiling, foamed walls, vinyl floors with rugs, and lighting supplied by a Victorian-era chandelier. The room is equipped with various instruments and amplifiers.

The control room is where the equipment capturing your performance is housed. The engineers will make sure everything is sounding it’s best and provide feedback if necessary/desired.

The heart of the room is a modified vintage British-built Soundcraft 800b console. The console was once owned by a popular and successful 70s/80s rock band. It arrived in our possession with grounding and routing mods but Walsh further modified it by adding numerous UTC transformers to the console preamps, further extending it’s warm and rich vintage sound. Walsh also added a special section to control a 1970s ADM preamp. The thing sounds awesome.

The room also features a wide array of outboard gear including vintage compressors, reverb units, delays, and eqs. Walsh has also built a variety of custom direct boxes inspired by notable sounds from studios/engineers in history. We also have a custom basement reverb chamber to send signals through.

Our standard “hybrid analog-digital” operation includes the best of both worlds by tracking through the analog console into a powerful custom built PC based ProTools rig. We can further extend that hybrid operation by sending tracks from ProTools back into any of our outboard gear. It’s cool stuff!

We have a pair of Otari reel to reel tape machines as well for those who want to stay completely analog. We can accommodate 8 track recording and 2 track mastering. We can also bounce digital tracks back through tape, which can result in a warm tape compressed sound.

The studio features nearly any piece of equipment that you could ask for during a session. We are prepared for any request.
